More about me...
I have been singing in one way or another for most of my life. I began singing in high school choir, where I had the privilege to perform locally and statewide. I also had the joy of performing in several musicals and plays. I excelled as a vocalist and started casually taking voice lessons in high school. Once I transitioned to college, I prioritized singing and began to pursue a career in it. In undergraduate school, I performed in choirs and took on roles in full operas and scenes from various operas and musicals. Early on, I decided to pursue music education, specifically choral directing. It was my second voice professor in college who fostered a passion of singing in me and inspired me to continue to deepen my knowledge and skill of the singing voice. In addition to voice, I studied music theory, music history, piano, education, conducting, and diction of foreign languages.
After graduate school, I received a choral directing and guitar instruction position in the Boise School District in Idaho. There my choir programs participated in tours, concerts, and community performances, and my guitar classes performed in their own concerts. I taught in the district for three years before resigning and beginning my private voice studio in the summer of 2023. I gained a great deal of knowledge and experience in the choral director position, which carried through to private lessons. In addition to choral directing, I was a member of the American Choral Director's Association for five years, where I gleaned from other directors in the Northwest. Since I began my studio, I have expanded to teaching guitar and piano, and hope to have a successful choir someday!
Today, I teach voice, piano, and guitar lessons via Bel Canto Studio. I also lead church worship and sing in and occasionally direct a proficient church choir.
